Marie Sassman
ASTra Advocate

Marie Sassman is a passionate, results driven educator and advocate. The current Coordinator for the Advocacy Support and Training (ASTra) Program, Marie utilizes proactive approaches to problem solving that inspires confidence, enables transparent communication, and positively influences collaborative partnerships between families and professionals. Marie served as a highly qualified K-5 teacher in Clark County School District (CCSD) Title One schools earning her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and obtaining a Master of Education degree with a concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language. She has a background instructing both children and adults with limited English proficiency in both public schools and community-based settings. She also served as a master teacher for CCSD’s mentorship program as well as Professional Learning Community grade level chair. Marie’s path to educational advocacy started with her passion for school reform and pragmatic change and expanded to Deaf and Hard of Hearing advocacy after the birth of her first child, who is Hard of Hearing.
