Guide By Your Side (GBYS)- Parent Guides Guide By Your Side is a free Hands & Voices program for families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Our program pairs your family with a specially trained Parent Guide who has first hand experience in the journey of parenting a deaf or hard of hearing child. In addition to the one on one services provided by your assigned Parent Guide, our program can help your family: -Get information and resources on hearing loss. -Meet other parents who have a deaf or hard of hearing child or children. -Connect with other organizations that offer additional support . Guide By Your Side Deaf/Hard of Hearing Guide The Deaf/Hard of Hearing (D/HH) Guide Program provides families direct communication with DHH adults across Nevada. Our D/HH services include the following: - Provide unbiased support and resources. - Identify practical solutions for navigating common challenges. - Address parental questions and concerns. - Discuss accommodations, technology, and accessibility assistance. - Visit school settings. - Connecting with families at events - Acting as a role model for DHH children - Sharing first-hand experience and perspective If you are interested in learning more about GBYS please contact us at [email protected]! |
Advocacy Support & Training (ASTra) The Hands & Voices ASTra program is designed to empower parents, promote self-advocacy of children with hearing loss, and build collaboration between families and professionals. Our ASTra program can provide resources, workshops, and individualized support pertaining to the needs of your child with a hearing loss. Hearing Device Loaner Program Free program to families with children ages birth - 3. The goal of the program is to ensure young deaf and hard of hearing (D/HH) children have access to hearing devices, un-biased parent-to-parent support and early intervention services in a timely fashion. This program aims to assist in the journey of parenting a D/HH child so they may reach developmentally appropriate speech & verbal language goals.
