Beth Jones
GBYS Coordinator, ASTra Advocate, & Board Member

Happily married to Josh, and a mom of three kids.  Lexie (13) loves soccer, baking, and is hard of hearing.  Cole (11) enjoys karate, making movies, and has typical hearing.  Harrison (9) is an avid reptile fan, enjoys karate, and is hard of hearing.

Favorite quote: “Do something each day that scares you”- Elenore Roosevelt.

What are your credentials/past experience, for working in your position? Before having kids, I was a teacher in an Autism classroom and Behavior Mentor Teacher. I have both my bachelor’s and my master’s degrees in Special Education, which has helped me navigate systems as a parent of children who are deaf/hard of hearing as well as a Parent Guide and ASTra Advocate. In my role of GBYS Coordinator, I serve on the Nevada EHDI Stakeholder Committee and am on the advisory boards for the Collaboration Center Foundation and DHH Health Equity Alliance. Through Hands & Voices’ national programs and projects, I am a graduate of the inaugural Class of 2019 Leadership-to-Leadership Program, as well as a Mentor for the Class of 2021. I am also honored to serve on the core team for Fostering Joy, a Hands & Voices project which focuses on the joys of raising deaf/hard of hearing children.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? When I’m not working for NVHV, you can find me at both ends of the activity-level spectrum: I love staying busy by being super involved and volunteering for my kids’ schools, being a soccer and karate mom, and going for hikes with my family. However, on weekends I prefer binge watching cheesy Christmas movies (anytime of the year) while lounging in bed and surrounded by sweet & salty snacks.
