A Parent Guide is not a medical professional or a therapist, but a parent, just like you. They have been trained to provide unbiased support and resources to help families feel empowered to make the best decisions for their child. Being a parent of a child who is Deaf and Hard of Hearing can prove difficult at times, but having a Parent Guide can make that journey smoother.
GBYS is a free Hands & Voices program for families with children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. We are an unbiased parent to parent support program providing families with resources, networks, educational information and knowledge of communication options. GBYS promotes self-efficacy and hinders isolation by exploring our common bond, shared experiences, challenges, wisdom and insight.
Our program pairs your family with a specially trained Parent Guide who has first hand experience in the journey of parenting a Deaf and Hard of Hearing child. In addition to the one on one services provided by your assigned Parent Guide, our program can help your family:
