Book in a Box

The purpose of Growing Book by Book Summer “Book in a Box” activities is to give DHH children access to NVHV Parent Guides, DHH Guides and ASTra Advocates reading and signing a variety of selected picture book over the summer. The six books chosen are focused on growth mind set, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) topics, and/or books from the OUR Children’s’ Safety Project “Vook” List. The OUR Safely Project book recommendations are based on research of the most effective resources to help adults use literature as a tool to create a strong foundation for children’s safety by enabling awareness and dialogue around keeping kids safe from abuse and bullying.

Along with access to the NVHV YouTube channel to watch the pre-recorded story times in both Spoken English and ASL, DHH children and their families will be sent a box with materials to complete a guided art project together, which corresponds to the picture books they select (up to three per family or as supplies last).
