ASTra Level One Training

ASTra is a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Educational Advocacy Program that embodies the mission and vision of Hands & Voices, which is to provide support to families with children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) without a bias around communication mode, method, and educational setting so that every child who is DHH has the opportunity to achieve their full potential. ASTra content is derived from years of direct advocacy experience working with families in schools, attending advocacy trainings from legal experts, providing trainings, and the Hands & Voices Educational Advocacy Guidebook (©2013).

ASTra Level One Training is a four-part educational advocacy instructional series for parents and providers of children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Sessions will be live with interaction from trainers via Zoom. Certificate of completion will be issued following completion of the series of classes.

FOUR VIRTUAL MEETINGS - - attendance required at all four meetings

1. Tuesday, November 4th, 2025 5:30-8:00pm

2. Tuesday, November 11th, 2025 5:30-8:00pm

3. Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 5:30-8:00pm

4. Tuesday, November 25th, 2025 5:30-8:00pm

Training link, agenda, and other materials will be provided by email. For maximum understanding, it is recommended that attendees purchase the book, Educational Advocacy For Students Who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing: The Hands & Voices Guidebook during registration. Books are available in English and Spanish for $40 (not included in registration fee).

For maximum communication access, it is recommended to join training sessions by desktop or laptop computer. Meetings will utilize screen sharing of presenter’s materials and the chat box feature to ask and ask questions.
