Jewel is a DHH guide, who was born in Chicago, IL and grew up in the Jeffery Manor neighborhood. Jewel became deaf at 2 years old and took oral speech therapy & American Sign Language. She went mainstream at Chicago Vocational School for 2 years then transferred and graduated from Whitney M.Young Magnet high school. Jewel learned to adapt into the hearing world as a deaf child and overcame many challenges and thrives well. In 2010, Jewel moved to Las Vegas, Nevada for work purposes and saw that things needed to improve in the deaf and hard of hearing community. She is advocating for better changes.

Jewel Eldridge is a Lead Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Guide, advocate, and community leader. She is co-founder of Nevada Black Deaf Advocates (NVBDA), founder of Deaf People of Color Connecting, a hospitality supervisor, and serves on the Black Leadership Advisory Council at NOMHE, while thriving as a mother, fiancé, and mentor to Deaf families. During her free time, Jewel enjoys spending time with her loved ones, designing, traveling, volunteering and helping others. With support and encouragement from her loving mother and family, Jewel is believed in and was pushed to her full potential. She understands daily struggles DHH children/family faces and has the heart of empowering others that she serves .
